JUSTIN WROBLESKI PLACED ON INJURED LIST WITH ARM INFLAMMATION
Justin Wrobleski was placed on the injured list with left forearm inflammation the day after pitching six innings against the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday, the Los Angeles Dodgers announced. Wrobleski allowed four runs, including two home runs, in the game, which the Dodgers lost 4-1. The Dodgers recalled right-handed pitcher Kyle Hurt to their roster following the move. The injury came ahead of Sunday's 6-2 loss to the Brewers, which gave Milwaukee a 3-1 series victory.
Wrobleski, a left-handed pitcher, holds an 11-5 record with a 3.56 earned run average across 21 outings this season. His performance has deteriorated significantly since the All-Star break: he posted a 1-3 record with a 6.92 ERA in five starts after the break, compared to a 10-2 record with a 2.69 ERA before it. In his last five appearances alone, Wrobleski allowed 11 home runs, substantially more than the eight he surrendered during the entire first half of the season. He has thrown a career-high 126.1 innings this year, exceeding his previous total of 123.1 innings across all levels in the previous season.
Manager Dave Roberts previously dismissed suggestions that workload had affected Wrobleski's performance, citing the pitcher's history across minor league and postseason play. The Dodgers' loss of the series means they now rank third in the National League standings, two places lower than they could have achieved with a series victory. Roberts indicated that Wrobleski would eventually move to the bullpen once other players returned to the roster.
