THREE STOLEN ARTWORKS RECOVERED MONTHS AFTER ITALIAN MUSEUM HEIST

SAT 15 AUG 2026

Italian police have recovered three paintings stolen during a night-time raid on the Magnani Rocca Foundation near Parma on 22-23 March. The recovered works include Paul Cézanne's Still Life with Cherries, valued at €6 million; Pierre-Auguste Renoir's Fish, valued at €3 million; and Henri Matisse's Odalisque on the Terrace, valued at €20,000. Officers from the Carabinieri art recovery squad located the artworks during searches ordered by prosecutors as the investigation continues.

Four masked thieves triggered museum alarms during the break-in before fleeing across the grounds and over a perimeter fence. The heist lasted approximately three minutes. The combined value of the stolen works was reported as €9 million by one account, though the three recovered paintings total €9.02 million based on individual valuations provided.

The recovery represents a significant result for Italian law enforcement's art crime division. The investigation into the theft remains ongoing, with prosecutors continuing their enquiries into the circumstances of the heist and the whereabouts of those responsible. No further details regarding arrests or charges have been confirmed at this stage.
