GOOGLE PIXEL 11 CAMERA FEATURE LIMITED TO NEWEST PHONES

FRI 14 AUG 2026 MOBILE

Google has restricted its new Camera Looks photo feature to the Pixel 11 series at launch, requiring users to upgrade to one of the company's latest phones to access the functionality. Camera Looks processes image data at the sensor level to produce photographs without the typical smartphone appearance, including a style called "Digi" that mimics older digital cameras. A Google spokesperson stated that the latest camera updates are only available on the latest devices, though added that the company is "always looking to bring experiences to more users" without confirming whether Camera Looks will reach older Pixel phones.

The Pixel 11 series was revealed at Google's Made by Google event on Wednesday. The base Pixel 11 model starts at £899 and includes 256GB of storage as standard, a £100 increase from last year's Pixel 10 but double the previous entry-level storage capacity. The Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL maintained their predecessors' pricing, whilst the Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold each received £100 price increases across all storage options. Google attributed the price rises to RAM shortages and increased costs for memory components across the broader technology industry.

All four Pixel 11 models are available for preorder immediately, with full retail release scheduled for 20 August. Isaac Reynolds, head of the Pixel camera team, has provided further detail on how Camera Looks functions. The feature represents one of the most significant camera improvements in the Pixel 11 lineup, though its restriction to the newest generation may limit its immediate uptake among existing Pixel users.
