ROBBIE WILLIAMS REVEALS AUTISM DIAGNOSIS AT CLOTHING BRAND EVENT

FRI 14 AUG 2026 MUSIC

Robbie Williams has disclosed that he has been diagnosed with autism, revealing the news at a question-and-answer session for the launch of his new clothing brand. The former Take That singer, who previously disclosed diagnoses of Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder and Tourette's syndrome, said the autism diagnosis "explains so much" about his behaviour. Williams stated: "I have ADHD and I just found out I have a bit of autism as well, which I actually love because it explains so much."

Williams described how he manages his ADHD by engaging in creative activities. He explained that ADHD allows him to concentrate intensely on one thing but makes focusing on everything else difficult. Williams said he redirects his attention towards creating images and making humorous content, which occupies his brain in a way that prevents him from dwelling on anxiety and intrusive thoughts. He gave an example of obsessive thoughts he experiences, describing how he once worried whilst on a plane that he might possess telekinesis and unconsciously cause the aircraft to crash.

According to the NHS, autism is defined as a difference in how the brain develops that affects how a person sees and experiences the world, and can impact communication, thinking, learning and attention. Autistic people are more likely to experience conditions such as anxiety and depression. Williams has spoken publicly throughout his career about his struggles with ADHD and mental health.
