REIJNDERS TO JOIN AL-QADSIAH IN £52M MOVE FROM MANCHESTER CITY
Manchester City have agreed to sell midfielder Tijjani Reijnders to Saudi Pro League side Al-Qadsiah for approximately £52m. The Dutch international, who joined City from AC Milan for £46.5m last summer, trained apart from the club's main squad on Thursday ahead of the transfer. Reijnders made 47 appearances for City in the 2024-25 season, scoring seven goals. The 28-year-old is set to depart after one year at the club.
Reijnders made an encouraging start to his City career, scoring and assisting in an opening-day victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers. His impact diminished over the course of the season; one account reported he scored four additional Premier League goals and recorded one further assist, with two goals and six assists across other competitions. Reports differ on his playing time in the latter stages of the campaign, with one source stating he managed 215 minutes of top-flight football in the final four months. Al-Qadsiah, managed by Brendan Rodgers, view Reijnders as a world-class signing for their first Asian Champions League campaign. The sale appears part of a broader midfield overhaul at City, with uncertainty surrounding the future of Rodri and reported interest in Chelsea's Enzo Fernández.
The transfer represents a £5m profit for City on Reijnders' original investment. New City manager Enzo Maresca has made limited changes to the squad inherited from Pep Guardiola, with Elliot Anderson arriving from Nottingham Forest for £116m as the club's major summer signing. Five players have already departed the Etihad Stadium, two on free transfers following the expiry of their contracts.
