TOTTENHAM UNLIKELY TO SIGN BALOGUN AS TRANSFER WINDOW CLOSES
Tottenham Hotspur appears unlikely to sign Folarin Balogun before the transfer window closes, according to reporting from football.london's Spurs correspondent. The club has not announced a new attacking player in five-and-a-half weeks, with midfielder Sandro Tonali the last signing on 6 July. Head coach Roberto De Zerbi stated during the club's pre-season tour that a new forward signing was imminent, but no deal has been confirmed as the window enters its final three weeks.
Tottenham completed six signings in defensive and midfield positions early in the summer transfer window. The club faces significant injury issues in attacking areas: Dominic Solanke spent much of the 2025/26 season sidelined and has had limited pre-season action, whilst Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert are unavailable due to ACL injuries. Mohammed Kudus and Dejan Kulusevski are working their way back to fitness following extended absences. De Zerbi, chief executive Vinai Venkatesham and sporting director John Lange have been working to secure additional forward reinforcements.
Balogun represents an attacking option that could address Tottenham's needs, though a move appears unlikely to materialise. The window closes in less than three weeks, with the new Premier League season beginning in approximately one-and-a-half weeks. The club remains in need of at least one new forward signing before the campaign starts.
