INTER MILAN MAKES FORMAL BID FOR TOTTENHAM DEFENDER DJED SPENCE
Inter Milan have tabled a formal offer for Tottenham Hotspur defender Djed Spence after the England international agreed personal terms with the Italian club. According to transfer analyst Fabrizio Romano, Inter have bid €30m (£25.6m) for the 25-year-old right-back, with Spence now closer to completing a move to Serie A. Tottenham are understood to be seeking at least €35m (£30m) plus add-ons, and negotiations between the clubs remain ongoing.
Spence has fallen down Tottenham's defensive hierarchy following the club's summer signings of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Jan Paul van Hecke, as well as Pedro Porro's new long-term contract. The full-back spent the previous season on loan at Nottingham Forest and has previously played for Middlesbrough. Inter, managed by Christian Chivu, view Spence as a potential solution to their defensive options.
Spence has attracted interest from multiple Premier League clubs this summer. Reports suggested both Manchester United and Liverpool were keen on the defender, though Romano stated that Liverpool's interest had been exaggerated and that no advanced negotiations had taken place with that club. The move to Inter would represent Spence's return to Italian football.
