STEVE KEIM DENIES DEANDRE HOPKINS PED TEST CLAIM

WED 12 AUG 2026 FOOTBALL

Steve Keim, former general manager of the Arizona Cardinals, has denied an accusation made by DeAndre Hopkins that Keim was responsible for a positive performance-enhancing drug test. Hopkins, who played for the Cardinals from 2020 to 2022, published a statement on social media claiming he was "set up" and suggesting Keim had a role in his failed test, before deleting the post. Keim stated on Tuesday that the accusation was "completely false" and that he did not contaminate, alter, manipulate or interfere with Hopkins's drug test or its results.

Keim said in a statement that Hopkins's accusation attacked his integrity and professional reputation built over decades in the National Football League. He described the allegation of deliberately interfering with an NFL drug test as "extraordinarily serious". Keim said that the deletion of Hopkins's post did not undo damage caused by publishing it to a large audience. According to the Sportskeeda report, Hopkins claimed he lost $13 million as a result of his suspension in 2022.

Keim stated he has retained legal counsel and will address the matter through appropriate channels rather than engage in public discussion or social media litigation. He said relevant evidence is being reviewed and preserved. Keim said he will not remain silent when falsely accused but does not intend to litigate the issue publicly.
