AMAZON UK RECEIVES £7.6M TAX CREDIT AS PROFITS RISE TO £355M

TUE 09 JUN 2026

Amazon UK Services received a £7.6m tax credit from HM Revenue and Customs in 2025, according to company records, as the division recorded a 26.5% rise in pre-tax profits to £355m. The division initially owed £9.1m in current tax, understood to be largely corporation tax. However, a £16.7m adjustment for previous periods reduced that liability below zero, resulting in the credit. Revenues at the division rose 11% year-on-year to £8.2bn.

The £16.7m adjustment relates to relief available under a government programme that rewards investment in UK infrastructure. Amazon UK Services spent £5.2bn on fulfilment centres, corporate offices, machinery, equipment and datacentres during the year. The division employs 66,000 of Amazon's 75,000 UK staff and operates the company's online shopping, warehouse and logistics network across Britain. Amazon registers financial results for 20 businesses at Companies House in the UK, with its five largest UK divisions together generating £32bn in revenues.

A spokesperson for Amazon stated that the company had delivered on a £40bn UK investment plan. During the year, Amazon opened a new fulfilment centre in Hull, developed a site in Northampton, and expanded operations in London and Swansea. The company also continued to grow its delivery and datacentre network across the country. Amazon UK Services is one of multiple Amazon divisions operating in the United Kingdom.
