STUDENT CHARGED WITH MURDER AFTER STABBING FELLOW STUDENT FIVE TIMES
Harper Dennis, 18, is charged with the murder of Khaleed Oladipo, 20, following a stabbing on 3 February 2026 near De Montfort University's campus in Leicester. Oladipo was stabbed five times in the chest, with one wound penetrating his heart, Leicester Crown Court heard on Monday. The prosecution alleges that Dennis, a first-year student at the University of Leicester, attacked Oladipo in the street after a dispute over money. Oladipo collapsed and never regained consciousness following the attack.
The two men knew each other through online gaming and had previously been friends, sharing a Snapchat group together. The court was told that the falling out centred on what Dennis perceived as a debt owed to him by Oladipo, a third-year student at De Montfort University. The stabbing occurred on Oxford Street near the university's Innovation Centre. Dashcam footage captured the incident, showing the two men engaged in a brief struggle before both fell to the ground, with the footage showing arm movements described as "consistent with the stab wounds".
Dennis faces charges of murder, having an article with a blade or point, and failing to provide the PIN for his phone. The prosecution case opened on Monday before the jury at Leicester Crown Court. The trial is continuing.
