FAMILY COMPLAINS TUNISIA HOTEL SHARES SITE WITH CARE HOME
Tracy Haslam travelled to Tunisia with two daughters and six grandchildren on an all-inclusive holiday booked through Loveholidays at a cost of £4,000. On arrival, she noticed a large number of elderly people near the pool, the majority accompanied by carers. A member of staff subsequently confirmed that the hotel forms part of a residential care home. Haslam, from Bolton, Greater Manchester, says she would not have booked the four-star property had that information appeared in the original listing.
Haslam says elderly residents were wheeled past her sunbed repeatedly throughout the day and that some made verbal outbursts near the children in her group. When she raised the matter at reception, she described staff as rude. A manager she spoke to initially said there were three elderly residents on site; Haslam disputed that figure, saying around ten had passed her in a short period. She subsequently filed a formal complaint with Loveholidays over the omission of the care home arrangement from the property's listing.
Loveholidays stated that Haslam's feedback led the company to establish that the hotel houses residential care guests within a designated section of the resort. The travel firm has temporarily removed the property from sale whilst it investigates the matter further with its accommodation partner. Loveholidays did not publicly name the hotel in its statement. No further details of the investigation's timeline or outcome have been confirmed.
