STALKER JAILED AFTER HIT-AND-RUN AND HARASSMENT

SUN 09 AUG 2026 CRIME

Joseph Wicks, 27, of Colchester, drove his Fiat 500 onto the pavement on Queen Street on 30 November last year, striking three pedestrians before leaving the scene. Armed police officers later found him hiding beneath a bed frame and arrested him. On 31 July, he was sentenced to four years and six months in prison and disqualified from driving for two years and six months.

While the hit-and-run was under investigation, Wicks committed further offences six months later. These additional offences included stalking and harassing a woman. The police response involved locating him at the address where he had concealed himself.

The sentencing concluded proceedings relating to both the initial incident involving the three pedestrians and the subsequent harassment offences. Court records confirmed the sentence length and driving ban imposed by the judge. No statement was made regarding the condition of the three people struck by the vehicle.
