An 11-year-old girl has been found dead in the Gore Water at Gore Glen Woodland Park near Gorebridge in Midlothian. Police were called to the area at approximately 12:40 on Thursday, 6 August 2026, following concerns for the girl. The girl's body was recovered from the water near Shanks Bridge at approximately 16:25 and she was pronounced dead at the scene. A major search operation was launched after the initial report of concern. The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent two fire engines to support the search.
