NASA ASTRONAUTS CONDUCT 6.5-HOUR SPACEWALK AT SPACE STATION
NASA astronauts Anil Menon and Jessica Meir conducted a spacewalk outside the International Space Station on Thursday lasting 6.5 hours. The pair ventured outside to install mounting hardware on the station's 3B power channel. According to NASA, the hardware will prepare the station for future installation of new roll-out solar arrays.
The new solar arrays are intended to provide additional energy to support the station's operations. The installation of mounting hardware represents the initial phase of work needed before the arrays themselves can be fitted. The spacewalk was conducted as part of NASA's ongoing programme to upgrade the station's power infrastructure.
The mission marks another step in maintaining and upgrading the International Space Station's systems. NASA continues to conduct regular spacewalks to service and improve the orbital facility. No issues with the spacewalk were reported.
