HOTEL OWNER CHARGED OVER FIANCÉ'S FATAL WINDOW FALL

THU 06 AUG 2026 CRIME

A hotel owner has appeared in court charged with health and safety breaches following the death of Olly Marmon, fiancé of X Factor star Jaymi Hensley. Marmon fell from a third-floor window at the Hind Hotel in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire in August 2024, at the age of 33. Emergency services attended the scene at 11:30pm that night but Marmon died from his injuries. Marcus de Lannoy Holden, 57, of Shennington, Banbury, Oxfordshire, appeared at Northampton Magistrates' Court in July to face the charges.

Holden faces three charges relating to window safety at the hotel. The first alleges he failed to ensure windows capable of being opened were operated in a manner that did not expose guests to risk of harm. The second charge states he contravened an improvement notice by failing to undertake a risk assessment of window conditions and safe operation to eliminate the risk of people falling from them. The third charge alleges he failed to ensure the health and safety of his employees by neglect, exposing them to risks to their health and safety. Holden entered no plea at the hearing.

The court granted Holden bail to obtain legal advice, with the case adjourned to October. Marmon was a hairdresser who had recently worked in gardening alongside his stepdad. He and Hensley, who competed on the ITV talent show in 2011 as part of boyband Union J, had been together for 15 years and were weeks away from their wedding at the time of his death. Marmon's family released a tribute describing the "devastation and heartbreak" they are experiencing.
