JOSHUA DEMANDS PAYMENT TO MOVE FURY FIGHT FROM UK TO NEW YORK

Anthony Joshua will demand substantial compensation to relocate his scheduled bout with Tyson Fury from the United Kingdom to New York, according to his promoter Eddie Hearn. The two British heavyweights signed contracts earlier this year to fight in autumn at a domestic venue. Netflix, the broadcaster of the fight, has requested the bout move to Madison Square Garden on 20 November to accommodate a US television audience, which would have meant a 4am start time if held at Wembley.

Joshua, 36, negotiated a contractual clause stipulating the fight must take place in the UK, according to Hearn. The promoter stated he and Joshua are "the last two standing on a hill waving the Union Jack" and expressed unwillingness to abandon their position. Hearn indicated the strategy is to make relocating the fight financially prohibitive rather than negotiate a straightforward change of venue. Joshua previously said his legacy would be damaged if his biggest fight was held abroad.

The dispute reflects broader tensions surrounding the high-profile showdown. Peter Fury, Tyson Fury's uncle and former trainer, separately assessed Joshua's readiness after his recent return to the ring against Kristian Prenga of Albania, in which Joshua was twice floored in the opening round before securing a second-round knockout. Fury suggested Joshua's performance reflected mental rather than physical decline and recommended another fight before facing Tyson Fury, though he acknowledged the bout between the two heavyweights appears likely to proceed as planned.
