TRABZONSPOR IN TALKS TO SIGN SALAH ON FREE TRANSFER
Turkish Super Lig club Trabzonspor has announced the start of transfer negotiations with Mohamed Salah following his departure from Liverpool at the end of last season. Salah is available as a free agent. Trabzonspor chairman Ertugrul Dogan expressed hopes of finalising the deal this week, with the club stating that Salah will arrive in Istanbul on Wednesday, with further travel to Trabzon planned for the same evening.
Salah spent nine years at Liverpool from June 2017, scoring 257 goals and providing 120 assists across 442 appearances. During his time at the club, he won two Premier League titles, the Champions League, the Club World Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the FA Cup and two EFL Cups. The 34-year-old Egypt forward won the Premier League Golden Boot on four occasions and was named the Professional Footballers' Association player of the year three times. Trabzonspor finished third in the Super Lig last season and secured a spot in the Europa League playoff round.
Trabzonspor, based in the north-eastern city of Trabzon, are one of only six teams to have won the Turkish Super Lig. The club claimed their most recent league title in 2022, ending a 38-year wait for championship success. The club said further details regarding Salah's welcome programme would be shared through official communication channels.
