TODDLER DIES AFTER HEAD TRAPPED IN PLAY KITCHEN AT BABYSITTER'S HOME

TUE 04 AUG 2026

A three-year-old girl died after her head became trapped in a toy kitchen play set at a babysitter's home in the Meadows neighbourhood of Boynton Beach, Palm Beach County, Florida. Police were called shortly after 11am on 23 July to reports that a child was unresponsive and not breathing. Officers began life-saving measures before Boynton Beach Fire Rescue arrived and transported the girl to hospital in critical condition. She died four days later on 27 July, according to the Boynton Beach Police Department.

The girl and her sibling were in the care of the babysitter's spouse at the time of the incident, as the babysitter had left the property. During a periodic check on the children, the spouse found the girl with her head stuck inside the play kitchen, freed her and began emergency aid. According to investigators, the child's sibling reported that the three-year-old had become trapped whilst trying to retrieve toys that had fallen inside the play set. Boynton Beach Police Public Information Officer Chelsea Sanabia described the toy kitchen as "an old wooden set that was bought off of Facebook Marketplace a few years ago", adding that investigators have not identified the make, model or brand.

The child's cause of death has not been revealed. Police have not disclosed how long the girl remained trapped or whether the case has been submitted for criminal review. The investigation remains ongoing. Police have not identified the girl, her parents or the babysitter.
