JETS TIGHT END SADIQ OUT WITH HERNIA SURGERY SETBACK

TUE 04 AUG 2026

Kenyon Sadiq, the New York Jets' first-round pick in April, will miss additional time after suffering a setback in his recovery from hernia surgery. Head coach Aaron Glenn stated that the rookie tight end will be sidelined "a little bit" following the complication. Sadiq did not practise on Tuesday for the third consecutive day. Glenn expressed confidence that Sadiq would be available for the Jets' Week 1 road fixture against the Tennessee Titans.

Sadiq underwent hernia surgery in May. The 16th overall selection from the 2025 draft has yet to play in the preseason as a result of the injury. Glenn did not specify the duration of the absence or the exact nature of the setback. The Jets have other tight ends available, including second-round pick Mason Taylor, Jeremy Ruckert, Jelani Woods and Chase Curtis.

The Jets begin their season against Tennessee in Week 1. Sadiq's return timeline remains contingent on his recovery progress. Glenn's stated expectation that the player will be fit for the opening game suggests the setback is not expected to extend into the regular season.
