BMW DRIVER DIES IN CRASH WITH MERCEDES ON A628 NEAR TAMESIDE
A man in his 20s died following a collision between a BMW and a Mercedes-Benz on the A628 Manchester Road in Tintwistle near Tameside on Monday 3 August at 9.50pm. The BMW driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and his family have been informed by Derbyshire Police. The Mercedes driver sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Three passengers in the BMW also suffered serious injuries and were transferred to hospital.
The A628 was closed between the A57 Mottram Moor and A616 Flouch roundabout, including Woodhead Pass, immediately following the incident. The cordon was subsequently reduced to Manchester Road between Mottram Moor and Old Road in Tintwistle. Derbyshire Police launched an investigation into the circumstances of the crash. The force appealed for witnesses to come forward, particularly those with dashcam footage of the collision.
