SCOTT EASTWOOD REVEALS NEAR-FIGHT WITH SHIA LABEOUF ON FURY SET
Scott Eastwood has revealed that he nearly came to blows with Shia LaBeouf during filming of the 2014 war film Fury, with Brad Pitt intervening to break up the confrontation. Eastwood discussed the incident on the Armchair Expert podcast, describing a moment when tensions escalated between the two actors on set. The altercation occurred midway through production of the film, which followed an American tank crew in the final weeks of World War 2 and was directed by David Ayer. Eastwood stated that LaBeouf "got froggy" after Eastwood told him to stop interfering with scenes, and that others on set broke up the confrontation before it escalated further.
Eastwood characterised LaBeouf as employing an intensive method acting approach, recalling that LaBeouf pulled out one of his teeth before shooting commenced and cut himself during production. Eastwood described his own reaction as distancing himself from such practices, saying he chose to "keep clear" rather than engage with what he termed "this game". The specific disagreement that triggered the confrontation centred on a scene in which Eastwood's character spat tobacco on the tank, an action written into the script. Eastwood said he told LaBeouf to stop "pulling your s**t", adding that he would "whoop your ass" if the behaviour continued.
Eastwood noted that LaBeouf was "clearly tormented and maybe has some stuff going on", and acknowledged that others on set had also experienced difficulties with him during production. He characterised the broader working environment as demanding, saying that the production could not be halted by individual actors' conduct. Eastwood's account represents his recollection of events from over a decade earlier, provided in a podcast interview format rather than as a contemporaneous account.
