EMMERDALE WEDDING WEEK ENDS IN TRAGEDY AS JOE ARRESTED

Emmerdale will broadcast dramatic scenes next week centring on the wedding of Dawn and Joe Tate, with storylines involving a hospital admission, a police arrest and an alleged assault. Billy is rushed to hospital after being found bleeding and unconscious at his workplace, with police subsequently interviewing Caleb at the Depot. Joe is arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, though he denies involvement and states he will be exonerated once police realise their mistake. The wedding episode will conclude with what producers describe as tragedy that will have ramifications affecting the villagers for years to come.

The events leading to the arrest stem from a kiss between Dawn and her ex-partner Billy, which Joe discovers after Caleb reveals the incident to him following a confrontation at the Depot. Billy and Dawn have made plans to flee the village together, with Billy continuing to tell police that Joe attacked him in order to keep Joe complacent about their escape. During the week ahead, Charity Dingle confronts her abuser Dr Todd at Jacob's Fold, demanding he leave and later branding him a rapist during their altercation. Elsewhere, Kev attempts to teach his son Lewis to ride a bike but discovers he cannot ride one himself, leading the pair to bond after they both fall to the ground.

ITV1 will premiere a conceptual trailer for the wedding week on 3 August, building anticipation for the episodes. The storyline marks a significant moment for the soap's narrative, with producers signalling that consequences will extend well beyond the wedding day itself. Other subplots unfolding during the week include Ruby asking Kev to rob a delivery for Jimmy's new haulage contract, which Kev refuses, and Dylan confiding in April about his struggles before Bear offers him advice about counselling.
