PATSY KENSIT RETURNS TO EMMERDALE AS SADIE KING AFTER 20 YEARS

Patsy Kensit will return to ITV's Emmerdale this summer to reprise the role of Sadie King, the character she played from 2004 to 2006. The actress departed the soap after her character's downfall, which came when Cain Dingle double-crossed Sadie by stealing ransom money and leaving her behind. Kensit's return marks a significant gap of 20 years since her original exit from the show.

During her first stint in Emmerdale, Sadie King was involved in several major storylines, including a house explosion and affairs with both a young Robert Sugden and Cain Dingle. Kensit told press that she has received constant questions about returning to the role over the past two decades, describing Sadie as one of her favourite characters ever played. She stated that she is contracted to remain on the show until December. Producer Laura Shaw revealed that the decision to bring Kensit back came after a story conference, explaining that when someone suggested the character's name, there was "an audible gasp" around the table. Shaw noted that Sadie will initially appear unchanged to the village, but that her character will develop to show "a different Sadie" with a vulnerable side not previously seen.

Kensit, now 58, expressed feeling "very lucky" to return to the cast. She described Emmerdale as the star of the production, with all actors working together as an ensemble. The producer confirmed the show is keeping details of Sadie's storyline confidential, though Kensit has promised the character's return will bring significant drama to the village.
