MAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER AFTER NORTHERN QUARTER STABBING
A man has been charged with attempted murder following a stabbing in Manchester's Northern Quarter on Friday 31 July. Greater Manchester Police officers were called to Church Street at 12:50pm, where a 19-year-old man had been stabbed. A 21-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident and later charged.
Bandar Alzahar, of no fixed address, has been charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place. According to Greater Manchester Police, the victim remains in hospital in a stable condition but with life-threatening injuries. Alzahar has been remanded in custody ahead of an appearance at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Monday.
Greater Manchester Police said enquiries remain ongoing and appealed for witnesses to come forward. The force requested CCTV, mobile phone or dashcam footage from anyone present on Church Street at the time.
