ARIANA GRANDE TO STEP BACK FROM PUBLIC LIFE AFTER TOUR ENDS
Ariana Grande will withdraw from public appearances when her Eternal Sunshine tour concludes in London on 1 September, her representative announced. The US singer, 33, will "take a step back from visibility" following the tour's end, citing "endless, ongoing public scrutiny" as the reason for the break. Grande will no longer star in a West End revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George, scheduled to open at the Barbican Centre in 2027. Empire Street Productions confirmed the decision, stating they offered Grande "complete understanding and support" for stepping back from the production.
Grande's representative told People magazine that the singer looks forward to finishing the tour "on a high note, both healthily and happily" and taking "a much-deserved break from public-facing work and appearances". The representative stressed that Grande performs a physically demanding show and "performs healthily and successfully at a very high level night after night". The announcement followed the release of Grande's eighth studio album, Petal, two days prior, which reignited public discourse surrounding her physical appearance and health. Grande was set to star opposite British actor Jonathan Bailey, her Wicked co-star, in the Sondheim revival.
The decision comes amid ongoing online commentary about Grande's appearance, with some observers expressing concern whilst others disputed claims about her health. A source close to Grande told People that she "cannot wait to support the brilliant team bringing this project to life" on the production itself. The Barbican Centre revival will proceed without Grande's involvement.
