GLASS GLUED TO SLIDE INJURES CHILD IN CARDIFF PARK

SUN 02 AUG 2026 LOCAL

A ten-year-old boy was injured after shards of glass were deliberately glued to a slide at a park on Mill Road in Ely, Cardiff. The incident occurred between 2pm and 4pm on Thursday. The child's mother reported that her son's shorts were torn and he sustained a minor cut whilst playing with his grandmother, sister and cousin. South Wales Police stated it received a report of the incident at approximately 1.20pm on Friday, 31 July, and confirmed that enquiries remain ongoing.

The child's mother, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed concern about safety at the public play area. She said her son told his grandmother he would not return to the park and no longer trusted it. The mother reported the matter to both police and the local council. A warning sign has since been placed on the slide to alert other park users to the hazard.

South Wales Police stated the boy sustained a minor cut and damage to his clothing as a result of using the slide. The force confirmed that enquiries into the incident are ongoing but provided no further details on whether anyone has been identified in connection with the incident or what stage the investigation has reached.
