ARSENAL TOLD KONSA OPEN TO MOVE FROM ASTON VILLA

SUN 02 AUG 2026 FOOTBALL

Arsenal have received indication that Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa would be interested in joining the club, according to reports. The defender's openness to a move comes as Arsenal seek to strengthen their defence following an injury to William Saliba. Arsenal have made contact with Aston Villa regarding a potential transfer for the England international.

Aston Villa have valued Konsa at £60 million in discussions with Arsenal. The 28-year-old is not expected to push for a departure from Villa Park. Arsenal currently regard the £60 million asking price as excessive. The move forms part of Arsenal's broader summer transfer activity, which has already included the arrivals of goalkeeper Illan Meslier and forward Christos Tzolis, plus an agreement to sign midfielder Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United.

Arsenal have identified Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr as their primary attacking target and received positive responses that he would consider a move to the club. The pursuit of Konsa reflects Arsenal's intention to address multiple areas of their squad ahead of the new season. The club have also agreed the departure of midfielder Leandro Trossard to Besiktas and defender Christian Norgaard to Everton.
