GUNMAN OPENS FIRE AT IDAHO IN-N-OUT BURGER, MULTIPLE KILLED
A gunman opened fire with an AR-style rifle at an In-N-Out Burger restaurant in Twin Falls, southern Idaho, on Saturday afternoon, leaving multiple people dead and several others injured, according to police. The gunman was among those killed. Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks confirmed at a press conference that officers were working to establish the shooter's identity and motive. Hicks stated: "We believe the threat to the community is over," and added that he did not yet know precisely how many were killed or wounded, with officials still in the process of notifying next of kin.
Reports indicate at least three people lost their lives and at least five people were injured in the shooting. Josh Palmer, the city spokesperson, told NBC News he expects the number of injured to increase. Eyewitness Lane Koehn reported seeing a person carrying an AR-style rifle emerge from the drive-thru, after which a man carrying a pistol opened fire on the shooter. Koehn then observed an In-N-Out staff member dragging a uniformed colleague who was bleeding from a gunshot wound to her chest across the car park. The employee, Koehn and the armed individual remained at the scene until paramedics arrived. Idaho Governor Brad Little urged residents to keep the Twin Falls community in their prayers and asked people to avoid the area and follow law enforcement directions.
Twin Falls, a city of approximately 56,000 people, lies about 130 miles south-east of Boise and about 75 miles north of the Nevada border.
