ELISE HUGHES DEPARTS CRYSTAL PALACE AFTER FOUR YEARS

MON 08 JUN 2026 W FOOTBALL

Wales forward Elise Hughes has left Crystal Palace following four years at the club. Hughes announced her departure on social media whilst on international duty with Wales ahead of a World Cup qualifier. Crystal Palace won promotion to the Women's Super League earlier this year, with Hughes part of the squad that secured their return to the top flight. Her next club has not been announced.

Hughes described her time at Crystal Palace as including two promotions and one league trophy across her four seasons with the club. In her farewell statement, she credited the club with making her a stronger player and person. The announcement came as Wales prepared to face the Czech Republic in Cardiff in a World Cup qualifier on Tuesday evening. Crystal Palace secured their Women's Super League promotion in May.

Hughes's departure leaves Crystal Palace without a key forward as they prepare for life back in the Women's Super League. Her next destination remains unknown, with no transfer announcement made alongside her farewell statement. The Wales squad continue their World Cup qualifying campaign with the match against the Czech Republic in Cardiff. Crystal Palace will need to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new WSL season.
