CHIEFS LOSE TWO RECEIVERS TO INJURIES IN TRAINING CAMP
Kansas City Chiefs wide receivers Xavier Worthy and Cyrus Allen sustained injuries during Saturday's training camp practice and left the session early. Worthy was evaluated for a shoulder injury, while Allen was removed from the field on a cart with a lower left leg injury. Both players remained under evaluation, with the full extent of their injuries undetermined at the time.
Worthy is entering his third season with the Chiefs after being selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. Last season he appeared in 14 games, recording 42 receptions for 532 yards and one touchdown from 73 targets. Allen, a fifth-round pick in the 2026 draft, had played college football at Louisiana Tech, Texas A&M and Cincinnati, accumulating 2,221 yards and 22 touchdowns across 44 career games. One report noted that Worthy had dislocated his shoulder earlier in the previous season.
The simultaneous losses raised questions about the team's depth at the position. One report noted that wide receiver was already considered a potential area for roster improvement ahead of the regular season, and suggested that long-term absences from either player would increase pressure on the Chiefs to pursue additional signings. Training camp had begun only days before the injuries occurred.
