HOBBS CLAIMS FIRST SENIOR MEDAL AT COMMONWEALTH GAMES
Henry Hobbs won bronze in the men's elimination race at the Commonwealth Games on 31 July 2026, securing his first senior individual medal. The 19-year-old cyclist from Essex finished third behind Australian Blake Agnoletto and Scottish silver medallist Mark Stewart, holding off New Zealand's Thomas Sexton. Hobbs achieved the feat one day after winning gold in the 4,000m team pursuit on his debut at a major competition.
Harry Ledingham-Horn also claimed his first senior individual medal with bronze in the men's keirin, finishing 0.243 seconds behind Malaysian winner Mohd Azizulhasni Awang. The 22-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent completed his race 0.134 seconds behind silver medallist Leigh Hoffman of Australia. In women's cycling, Josie Knight won silver in the 4,000m individual pursuit, finishing 6.141 seconds behind Wales' Anna Morris, who set a Commonwealth Games record time of 4:24.272. Knight had set a record of 4:25.719 in the semi-final.
Sophie Capewell also won silver in the women's sprint, finishing second to Wales' Emma Finucane. Separately, boxer Tarona Taafaki won bronze in the women's 75kg division, securing Tuvalu's first ever Commonwealth Games medal. The medals demonstrate strong performances across cycling and boxing at the Games.
