NEW YORK LIBERTY OWNERS JOE AND CLARA TSAI END 30-YEAR MARRIAGE
Joe Tsai and Clara Wu Tsai have decided to end their marriage after 30 years, a spokesperson confirmed to media outlets. The couple, who have owned the New York Liberty WNBA team for seven years, made the decision mutually and with what their spokesperson described as "great respect for one another". The spokesperson stated that their relationship had "evolved into more of a partnership" focused on running their businesses and raising children together, and that they have "grown apart". The couple also own the Brooklyn Nets NBA team.
The Tsais' spokesperson confirmed that their ownership structure will not change following the separation. Joe Tsai will remain Governor of the Brooklyn Nets, whilst Clara Wu Tsai will remain Governor of the New York Liberty. The spokesperson stated that the business operations of Brooklyn Sports and Entertainment, the Brooklyn Nets, and the New York Liberty will not be affected by the divorce. The spokesperson characterised the separation as amicable and noted that the couple's professional partnership remains strong.
The announcement came shortly after the New York Liberty lost to the Las Vegas Aces, ending a three-game winning streak. Some observers online speculated about potential effects on the Liberty's operations, though the official statement made no mention of any internal disruption to either team. The exact timeline and further details of the separation have not been disclosed.
