ANDRUS PEAT RETIRES AFTER 11-YEAR NFL CAREER

FRI 31 JUL 2026 US SPORTS

Andrus Peat, an offensive lineman, announced his retirement on Friday following an 11-year National Football League career. Peat made the announcement via Instagram, stating he "gave it everything I had" during his time in the league. He was selected in the first round of the 2015 draft by New Orleans and spent nine seasons with the Saints. Peat played for the Raiders in 2024 and appeared in six games for the Steelers in the previous season.

During his tenure with New Orleans, Peat demonstrated consistency as a starter, beginning 102 of the 111 regular season games he played for the franchise. He earned Pro Bowl selection at guard position from 2018 to 2020. Peat also started six playoff games whilst with the Saints. His career was marked by sustained performance across multiple seasons with a single organisation before finishing his playing days with two different teams.

The retirement concludes Peat's run as a professional player at an age when many athletes in his position wind down their careers. No statement was made regarding his plans following retirement from professional football. His departure marks the end of a career spent primarily in New Orleans, where he established himself as a reliable presence on the offensive line.
