SAM FENDER AND OLIVIA DEAN SET UK CHART RECORD
Sam Fender and Olivia Dean's single 'Rein Me In' has spent 19 weeks at Number One on the UK Official Singles Chart, breaking the previous record of 18 weeks held by Frankie Laine's 'I Believe' from 1953. The record had stood for 73 years. 'Rein Me In' became Fender's first chart-topping single when it reached Number One in February 2026, despite being released over a year earlier.
The song took 35 weeks after its initial chart entry to reach the top position. It has climbed back to Number One four times during the same chart run—a feat unmatched in UK chart history. Over 58 consecutive weeks in the UK Top 40, the track spent 31 weeks consecutively in the Top 10, marking the longest Top 10 run since UK charts began. The single has also topped the Irish charts for 13 non-consecutive weeks and reached Number Three in Australia after 36 weeks on the chart there.
Ben Mortimer, President of Polydor Label Group, stated the achievement represented a historic moment for the label and the artists. Jo Charrington, President of Capitol UK, described the record as a landmark achievement, attributing the song's sustained success to the connection between the two performers. Both executives emphasised the significance of homegrown British talent breaking a seven-decade-old record.
