SHOHEI OHTANI ONE-OF-ONE CARD FOUND IN FLORIDA SHOP

FRI 31 JUL 2026 US SPORTS

A one-of-one Shohei Ohtani autographed card with gold patches was pulled from a hobby box at Boca Sports Cards in Boca Raton, Florida on 30 July. The card, from the Topps Chrome Baseball series released on 22 July, features two Gold Logoman patches from jerseys Ohtani wore during his 2024 and 2025 National League MVP seasons with the Los Angeles Dodgers, along with two signatures — one in English and one in Japanese. A collector who purchased a jumbo box for $700 at the store pulled the card and subsequently sold it to another party. The discovery concluded a search that had begun immediately after the card series' release.

Matthew Allen, a high-end collector known by the social media handles "Shyne150" and "Bolillo Lajan San", announced on Instagram that he purchased the card for over $10 million. Allen is a principal at Secure Collectibles, a trading card investment firm co-founded alongside Kevin O'Leary, a "Shark Tank" investor, and entrepreneur Paul Warshaw. Prior to Allen's acquisition, Secure Collectibles had offered $6.5 million to whoever pulled the card. Hong Kong trading-card company Grade 10 had placed a $10 million bounty, described as a preemptive public offer to purchase the card at a stated price.

Gold Logoman patches are awarded to players following MVP, Cy Young, or Rookie of the Year honours. Similar one-of-one cards featuring patches from Aaron Judge's back-to-back American League MVP seasons and Tarik Skubal's consecutive AL Cy Young Award seasons remain in circulation. Boca Sports Cards confirmed the discovery through social media, noting that the redemption card pulled by the collector would be submitted to receive the actual card.
