ALAN CARR JOINS THE MASKED SINGER JUDGING PANEL
Alan Carr has been announced as a new judge on The Masked Singer. The comedian will join Davina McCall, Maya Jama, Jonathan Ross and Mo Gilligan on the ITV competition panel. Carr made the announcement on ITV's This Morning on Friday, describing himself as bringing "intelligence" to a panel he said made "terrible guesses".
The Masked Singer, which began in 2020, features celebrities performing in elaborate costumes whilst attempting to conceal their identities. Jonathan Ross and Davina McCall have been judges since the show's inception, with Mo Gilligan joining in the second series and Maya Jama replacing a previous panellist approximately two years ago. Joel Dommett has served as presenter throughout the programme's run. Carr previously judged on Britain's Got Talent and ITV's Mamma Mia! I Have A Dream, a competition to cast leads in an ABBA musical.
Hosts Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary responded positively to the announcement on This Morning. The Masked Singer's social media account had teased the new judge's identity with a series of clues ahead of the formal reveal. ITV bosses had previously indicated that a notable figure would be joining the panel for the upcoming series.
