DANIEL KINAHAN FACES EXTRADITION FROM DUBAI TO IRELAND

THU 30 JUL 2026 CRIME

Irish authorities are preparing to extradite Daniel Kinahan from Dubai to Ireland following his arrest in the United Arab Emirates in April. Kinahan, described as an alleged leader of the Kinahan organised crime group, was arrested on the basis of a warrant issued by an Irish court for alleged serious organised crime offences. According to reports, he has exhausted legal attempts in Dubai to block the extradition process. Irish authorities have stated that diplomatic steps remain necessary to complete the extradition, though no timeline has been set for his return.

The High Court in Dublin previously designated Kinahan as a senior figure within an organised crime gang involved in international drug trafficking and firearms offences. US authorities offered a reward of up to five million dollars for his arrest in 2022. His detention in Dubai represents a significant development in efforts by law enforcement to apprehend figures linked to the Kinahan group's alleged operations.

The completion of extradition proceedings marks a step forward for Irish authorities in their pursuit of the case. The diplomatic phase that remains may determine the speed at which Kinahan is transferred to Ireland to face charges. The outcome of the extradition will be closely monitored by law enforcement agencies in multiple jurisdictions investigating organised crime activities attributed to the group.
