CALEB WILLIAMS LOSES 10-15 POUNDS IN OFFSEASON
Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams stated that he lost between 10 and 15 pounds during the offseason by altering his sleeping and eating habits. Williams told media on Wednesday that the changes included adjusting his training schedule, eating more consistently, avoiding food after 7 p.m., and prioritising rest and sleep. He said he believes the weight loss will improve his mobility on the field. Williams comes off a season in which he led the Bears to 11 wins and was sacked 25 times across 18 games, including playoff matches.
The Bears listed Williams at 215 pounds as a rookie but increased that figure to 226 pounds ahead of the 2025 season. NFL NextGen Stats recorded Williams running at speeds of 20 mph or more on five occasions last season, with his fastest recorded speed of 21.01 mph occurring in Week 17 against San Francisco — the fastest speed recorded by any quarterback during the 2025 season according to the data. Williams' playing style relies on extending plays and creating time in the pocket for receivers to develop routes.
The change in weight follows a significant reduction in sack totals. During his rookie season, Williams was sacked 68 times, the most of any quarterback in the league. Whether the weight reduction reflects confidence in the Bears' offensive line improvements or a strategic shift in his approach remains unclear. The Bears' official roster continues to list Williams at 226 pounds.
