EDDIE HOWE LEAVES NEWCASTLE UNITED AFTER FIVE SEASONS

Eddie Howe has left his position as manager of Newcastle United, the club announced on Thursday. Howe informed Newcastle that he would step down after nearly five seasons in charge. The manager and club had initially agreed to continue working together for the forthcoming season, but Howe decided to depart. His exit follows a season in which Newcastle finished 12th in the Premier League.

Howe took charge of Newcastle in 2021 following the Public Investment Fund's takeover of the club, replacing Steve Bruce. Under his management, Newcastle won the Carabao Cup in 2025, described as the club's first silverware in 70 years. The club also qualified for the UEFA Champions League on two occasions during his tenure. Newcastle endured a turbulent summer before Howe's departure, with various managerial pressures evident throughout the 2025–26 season.

Newcastle has already moved to replace Howe, with Matthias Jaissle of Al Ahli set to be named as his successor. The club wasted no time in identifying a replacement following the manager's announcement. Jaissle's appointment would mark another significant change at St James' Park as the club continues its restructuring under the investment fund's ownership.
