49ERS CONCERNED OVER PEARSALL KNEE SWELLING LINKED TO 2025 INJURY
San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Ricky Pearsall was held out of Wednesday's training camp practice owing to swelling in his knee. The team stated that the issue is related to a PCL injury Pearsall sustained during the 2025 season. The 49ers said that all options are being explored and expressed concern about the nature of the injury, though no timeline for Pearsall's return has been provided.
Pearsall injured his right knee in Week 4 of the 2025 season during a passing play against the Jacksonville Jaguars, when he landed awkwardly whilst catching a pass. He initially missed six weeks before returning in Week 11 against Arizona, but the knee problems persisted. During a Week 15 match against Tennessee, Pearsall aggravated the same right PCL injury whilst making another catch. Across the 2025 season, he missed eight games overall and recorded 36 receptions for 528 yards and no touchdowns. One report noted he was limited to nine games overall and also missed time due to a hamstring injury.
The injury to Pearsall comes as Christian Kirk, another 49ers wide receiver, remains sidelined by a calf strain sustained during Sunday's training camp practice. With both receivers out, the 49ers' depth at the position has been tested early in training camp.
