BEATLES RELEASE RUBBER SOUL DELUXE EDITION WITH UNRELEASED LENNON DEMO

WED 29 JUL 2026

The Beatles will release a deluxe reissue of their 1965 album Rubber Soul in October, featuring newly remixed audio and previously unreleased recordings. The Super Deluxe edition will include 24 early session recordings, of which 20 are previously unreleased takes, alongside three unreleased home demos. Among the new material is an unheard John Lennon song outline titled Little Girl, which Lennon sketched on the back of a postcard that George Harrison received from a Japanese fan, with lyrics from the draft audible in a demo recording.

The Super Deluxe editions will accompany an 88-page hardbound book containing a new introduction by Paul McCartney and a foreword compiled from Lennon's own words, alongside rare photographs. The reissue will present all 14 new stereo mixes of the album for the first time, sourced from the original four-track master tapes. Rubber Soul was originally released in December 1965 and recorded during October and November 1965, shortly after The Beatles performed to more than 55,000 fans at Shea Stadium in New York. The album features tracks including Norwegian Wood, In My Life, Drive My Car, Nowhere Man, Michelle and Girl.

The reissue will also feature early versions of Day Tripper and We Can Work It Out. The original album is regarded by some fans as a pivotal moment in The Beatles' evolution, bridging their early rock and roll sound with later experimental work. Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys stated that Rubber Soul inspired him to write Pet Sounds, which in turn inspired The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
