ISRAELI STRIKES HIT GAZA STRIP AS CEASEFIRE CONTINUES

WED 29 JUL 2026 MIDDLE EAST

Israeli forces struck multiple locations across the Gaza Strip on Tuesday evening, including Gaza City, Deir al-Balah and Nuseirat refugee camp. The Israeli military issued evacuation warnings before the strikes, and footage showed explosions, flames and smoke rising into the night sky. Residents near Al-Muttaqin Mosque in Gaza City evacuated nearby tents before the strike hit the area. One report indicated a Palestinian man died from injuries sustained in the strike on Nuseirat refugee camp, according to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, whilst another report stated nine Palestinians were wounded in an attack on a market in the same camp.

The strikes continued a pattern of Israeli military operations across the Gaza Strip. A fragile ceasefire between Israel and Hamas came into effect in October, yet Israeli strikes have persisted since that agreement. Footage from Gaza City documented the scale of the explosions and damage caused by the strikes. Initial reports of casualties differed between locations and sources, with some strikes producing no immediately reported casualties whilst others resulted in reported deaths and injuries.

The incident marks a continuation of hostilities despite the announced ceasefire. The pattern of evacuation warnings issued before strikes has become routine during the period of the ceasefire agreement. The discrepancy between different hospital reports regarding whether casualties came from the same incident remained unclear at the time of reporting.
