DANIEL JONES CLEARED FOR COLTS TRAINING CAMP AFTER ACHILLES INJURY

Daniel Jones, quarterback for the Indianapolis Colts, stated on Monday that he has been fully cleared to participate in training camp and will take part in full 11-on-11 drills when camp begins on Wednesday. Jones ruptured his right Achilles tendon on 7 December during a match against the Jacksonville Jaguars and underwent surgery to repair the injury. He told "The Pat McAfee Show" that he is "feeling good" and ready to resume full participation in team drills.

Jones returned to throwing passes in April, approximately five months after the injury occurred. Head coach Shane Steichen said at the time that Jones was on track to be a full participant at training camp and that he was "dropping back, throwing" and "in a good spot" during spring activities. The recovery timeline represents a notably rapid return from an injury that historically posed significant career risk to athletes.

Jones' surgeon, Dr Martin J. O'Malley, performed the same minimally invasive procedure used to treat Jayson Tatum of the Boston Celtics, who ruptured his Achilles tendon during the 2025 NBA playoffs. Tatum returned to play less than a year after his injury and competed in the final 16 games of Boston's regular season and their run to the second round of the playoffs. The surgical technique is reported to reduce the risk of complications and shorten recovery time from an Achilles tear.
