SEARCH CONTINUES FOR MISSING KAYAKER AFTER FRIEND FOUND DEAD

TUE 28 JUL 2026

The mother of missing kayaker Simon Wilson has issued a public appeal for information as the search for her son continues following the death of his friend. Connor Parfitt and Simon Wilson disappeared last Tuesday evening near Hafan-y-Mor beach on the Llŷn Peninsula in Wales, close to a Haven holiday park. On Sunday, police confirmed that Connor Parfitt's body was discovered on a beach in Aberystwyth at approximately 12.30pm. Simon Wilson remains missing one week after the incident.

Sarah Wilson, Simon's mother, posted on social media today urging members of the public to search for her son along the Welsh coast and potentially as far as Ireland. She reported that Simon's cap was found yesterday near Milford Haven in south-west Wales. When he went missing, Simon was carrying an orange bag, grey Crocs, sunglasses, prescription glasses and a speaker. Sarah Wilson stated that Simon's life jacket may have been worn under his jumper at the time of his disappearance.

Searches have been suspended pending discovery of Simon Wilson or any of his belongings, according to the statement from his mother. She expressed the family's condolences to Connor Parfitt's family during what she described as a difficult time. The public has been asked to report any sightings of Simon Wilson or any items that may have been taken out with him during the incident.
