POPE HITS WINNING RUN AS MI LONDON BEATS SOUTHERN BRAVE
Ollie Pope scored the winning runs off the final delivery to secure a three-wicket victory for MI London over Southern Brave in The Hundred men's competition at the Utilita Bowl in Southampton on 27 July. Southern Brave posted 129-9 from 100 balls, with Jamie Smith scoring 49 from 26 balls and Tristan Stubbs adding 38 from 31 balls. MI London reached their target of 130, losing seven wickets in the process, with Will Jacks contributing 54 from 41 balls.
MI London appeared to be cruising towards victory at 93-3, but lost four wickets for 34 runs to shift momentum back towards Southern Brave. Marcus Stoinis took three wickets for 17 runs, removing James Vince and Nicholas Pooran in consecutive deliveries before trapping Jacks lbw. Sherfane Rutherford scored 21 from 12 balls for MI, but both he and Rashid Khan were run out in the closing stages, while Tom Curran was bowled by Nikhil Chaudhary.
MI London's attack was led by Trent Boult, who took 2-15. The victory places MI London third in the standings on eight points, level with leaders Manchester Super Giants and second-placed Welsh Fire, though MI have played one more game. Southern Brave remain second bottom in the table after losing their opening three matches.
