FOUR GAMBIAN NATIONALS DIE IN DERBY CAR CRASH

Four Gambian nationals died in a car crash in Derby on Saturday night, according to reports. A red Hyundai carrying five people veered off the A38 near Toyota Island and struck trees at approximately 11pm. Two women aged 18 and 30, and a 36-year-old man were pronounced dead at the scene. A seven-month-old girl, the fourth victim, died in hospital shortly afterwards.

The Gambia Welfare Society in Leeds identified the deceased as Abu Camara, his wife, their daughter, and another family member. The 33-year-old male driver sustained serious injuries and was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He was subsequently released on bail.

The Gambia High Commission has issued a statement of condolences to the victims' families. The commission said: "May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace." Tributes to the deceased have been paid by community organisations and officials in response to the collision.
