INTER MILAN CONFIRMS INTEREST IN SIGNING TOTTENHAM DEFENDER ROMERO
Inter Milan's sporting director Piero Ausilio has confirmed the Italian club's interest in signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero. In comments to Sky Italy, Ausilio stated that Inter are actively attempting to negotiate with both the player and Tottenham over a transfer. He confirmed that Inter have met with Romero's agent and held talks with the north London club, though he acknowledged that such negotiations take time.
Tottenham have signalled openness to selling Romero this summer, having already signed Jan Paul van Hecke as his replacement. The club are reportedly seeking €50 million, equivalent to approximately £42.7 million, for the World Cup-winning defender. Inter are believed to be seeking a lower fee, though add-ons could be used to narrow the gap between the two clubs' valuations. Romero has attracted interest from multiple clubs, with reports indicating other Premier League sides are also monitoring the situation.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi has previously expressed admiration for Romero's abilities. The defender's potential departure would form part of Tottenham's summer activity, during which the club have already spent in excess of £235 million on squad improvements and expect further significant player departures before the transfer window closes.
