CHIEFS OFFENSIVE COORDINATOR'S WIFE SHOT AT HOME IN VIRGINIA
Mia Bieniemy, wife of Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy, was shot at the couple's home in Ashburn, Virginia, on Sunday evening. Loudoun County Police arrived at the property on the 20000 block of NorthPark Drive at 7:32 p.m. ET. Police confirmed that one person was being treated for serious injuries but declined to identify the victim. Reports later confirmed that Mia Bieniemy was hospitalised and subsequently moved to stable condition.
Elijah Bieniemy, son of the Chiefs' offensive coordinator, has been charged with three felonies: use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, malicious wounding, and discharging a firearm within a building. Eric Bieniemy was at the Chiefs' training camp facility in Missouri at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph when the incident occurred on Sunday. The Kansas City Chiefs acknowledged the situation in a statement, saying the team was "aware of the incident involving Eric Bieniemy's family" but declined to provide further details.
Bieniemy was hired by the Chiefs earlier this off-season as offensive coordinator, returning to the role he held from 2013 to 2022, during which the team won two Super Bowls. He had spent the 2025 season as running backs coach for the Chicago Bears after spells with UCLA and the Washington Commanders. The incident comes as the Chiefs prepare for the 2026 season.
