CARLY SIMON DISCLOSES PARKINSON'S DIAGNOSIS AND CANCER REMOVAL

MON 27 JUL 2026

Carly Simon has disclosed that she has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. The singer-songwriter also revealed that she had basal cell carcinoma, a form of skin cancer, which was surgically removed from her face. Simon attributed her withdrawal from public view to these health conditions alongside previous knee and hip arthritis.

Simon described experiencing physical and mental challenges associated with Parkinson's, including fatigue, anxiety, depression and apathy. She announced a new album titled Comes in Waves, scheduled for release on 14 August. The album will mark her first original work in 18 years.

The announcement represents Simon's return to recording after an extended absence from music production. Her previous studio albums were released significantly earlier in her career. The new release will be her first to follow the public disclosure of her health diagnoses.
