TWO PEOPLE DEAD AFTER BEING RECOVERED FROM CORNWALL BEACH
Two people died after being recovered from the water at Fistral Beach in Newquay, Cornwall, on Sunday evening. Emergency services including police, the coastguard and ambulance crews attended the scene at approximately 9.45pm. A rescue helicopter and up to nine emergency vehicles were deployed to South Fistral. A man and a woman were pronounced deceased at the scene by emergency personnel.
The incident prompted a major emergency service response. Eyewitnesses reported the arrival of the rescue helicopter alongside multiple emergency vehicles at the beach. The families of the deceased have been notified of their deaths.
A file will be prepared for HM Coroner in relation to the deaths. No further details regarding the circumstances of the incident have been released at this stage.
